bronze and multi-metal koro
A highly-stylized bronze and multi-metal koro, its gold-framed handles and feet in the form of archaic creatures. Upon the domed lid, the finial, a delighted monkey, holds a persimmon branch in one hand, a fruit clenched in his foot. Along the body, shakudo, gold and silver kaga-inlaid and moriage butterflies hover over luxuriant floral bushes. Katsukawa raised signature on body. Height, 12". Meiji Period.
