Satsuma koro - Yabu Meizan
An iconographic Satsuma koro, its form and subject matter definitive of the work of the Master. On its domed lid, an openmouthed shishi is superbly modeled not only as the work’s finial, but an okimono unto itself. Three highly-detailed images embrace the body: a continuous scene of Lake Biwa dotted with villages, bridges and boats against towering mountains, bands of butterflies and groves of morning glories. Yabu Meizan signature cartouche on base. Height, 4.5". Meiji Period.
