A rare-formed, square-shaped Satsuma koro, its finial composed of a trio of birds. Two “u”-shaped handles enclose the vessel’s sides, which, when coupled with the lid, are completely enameled in low relief with the Master’s beloved dense “floral tapestry”. The two main panels perfectly executed, exhibit on one, the Girls’ Day Matsuri and on the other, a serene Lake Biwa with fishing boats. This unique koro is exceptional both in form and design and represents a jewel in the pantheon of Yabu Meizan works. Yabu Meizan gilt cartouche on base. Height, 3.5" Meiji Period.
