A Japanese silver fully-articulated crab formed as a covered box. The lid, or carapace, of the creature lifts to reveal a hidden compartment. The silver is finely stippled, incised and detailed throughout, accentuating the natural quality and texture of the creature. Incised signature on nether side: Katu Tsugi saku. Length, 6.5". Meiji Period.
