A rectangular suzuribako with canted corners and silver rims. On the cover, myriads of golden sakura float in a water-like pattern on its asymmetrical roiro and gold-lacquered ground. Feathery sprays in low relief cover the interior, surrounding a shibuichi, sakura- formed water dropper and 2 lacquer brushes. The kiri bako, signed by the maker, quotes a classic poem relating to its theme – sakura, water, mountains and wind. Signature, Uemaatsu Hobi. Length, 8.25"; width, 7.25". Tomobako and owner’s box.
