A richly-patinated wood netsuke rendered as a wasp feeding upon a rotting pear. The creature, realistically carved, possesses incised detailing and jet-inlaid eyes. This netsuke, so right in-hand, reinforces the item’s original intent as created by the noted Nagoya-School maker. Sangetsu signature incised on base. Length, 1.75". 19th century. (For a similar netsuke, see: “Lazarnick, MCI”, page 691).
