Works in preparation

「作品準備中」

The first works are being photographed, examined and researched. Each will be published here with its full record: maker and marks in English and Japanese, technique, a condition report made under UV light and magnification, provenance with sources, and the museum works it should be compared with. Nothing will appear until that record is complete. Members of the private list see each work before it is announced.

We will send one email asking you to confirm (double opt-in). Your address is kept privately, used only for the list, and you can leave at any time.

What the Gallery will hold

The Gallery is where works offered by the house will appear, each with the same four-part record as the Archive: maker and marks, technique, iconography, and condition examined under magnification and ultraviolet light, with provenance and cited museum comparisons. No work is listed until its record is complete.

Until then, the Archive shows the standard we hold ourselves to, and the auction records show public results for comparable works. Prices are given on request, and viewings are by appointment.

When the first works are published, each will have a page like an Archive record, with its own photographs, a full description, and the museum and auction comparisons it was judged against. Collectors who would like to hear about works before they are published can join the private list from the footer of any page.

Every work offered will be described in the same terms as the Archive, with attribution limited to By, Workshop of, Attributed to, Style of or Company, and with condition, marks and box recorded as observed. Questions about a type of work or a maker can be sent through the enquiry form at any time.
