A private house for the finest Japanese art of the Meiji era, 1868 to 1912. We publish few works, each with a full record: maker and marks, technique, condition examined under UV light and magnification, provenance, and the museum works it should be judged against. Prices are given on request, and viewings are by appointment, by video call or an agreed meeting.

The house exists because the finest Meiji work is too often sold on thin descriptions and borrowed superlatives. We believe a work should be judged against the museum pieces it claims to stand beside, and that every statement about it should carry its source. Where the evidence is incomplete, we say so.
